Chabad is the world’s largest Jewish educational outreach program. Chabad’s success is based on the fact that Chabad is not a particular brand of Judaism. It’s an outlook. We believe in the importance of the individual and the significance of every single deed. Indeed, Chabad pioneered the concept that the Torah must be accessible to men and women at every social, economic and educational level. Once centered in the Russian town of Lubavitch, translated as “the city of brotherly love,” Chabad now serves the needs of millions at more than 4,000 centers worldwide.
Chabad’s philosophy remains surprisingly simple: love every Jew, educate every Jew, and reach out to every Jew. We open our arms and our hearts to all, regardless of education or background. That’s a commitment we have honored throughout the greater Sarasota–Manatee area since November 1990 when the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, sent Rabbi Chaim & Sara Steinmetz as his emissaries to Sarasota-Manatee. We continually seek new ways to interest Jews in Judaism. You won’t find us talking about concepts; we bring them to life. We personally welcome you to join us at any of our stimulating Torah classes, synagogue services, and year round family activities.
Why Should I Go To A Traditional Synagogue If I Am Not Orthodox?
To join may seem like a major step and commitment. However, Chabad accepts you as you are, and no one will push you to become someone you are not. We respect all Jews and invite newcomers to participate, explore, consider and enjoy without feeling obligated.
What About Membership?
You do not have to be a member to participate in our activities, lectures and services. We have many different membership opportunities and our dues are currently the lowest in the community. However, membership does demonstrate one’s support of our extended family
